| Sanyo Service Menu Shock!!
Tonight I went to see a friend to give my impression of their Sanyo CE27LC6-B LCD TV which they are not happy with.
I have to say that I wasn't impressed. The picture quality varies woefully. I found that when there was a large bright area on the screen, the rest of the picture would darken and look quite nice.. But when the bright area disappeared, the contrast of the picture would quickly ramp up and made the picture look awful.
The easiest way to reproduce this was using the Sky "Search and Scan" bar.. When that was on the screen, the picture was dark and nice.. When it went away, the picture turned nasty.
Anyway, I was using the Sky remote to control the Sky to demonstrate this phenomenon when suddenly the TVs service menu appeared. Not quite sure what I had done, I swithced it off and back on again.
I then repeated what I repeated what I did before and again got the Service Menu. After a few goes, I found that the Service menu appeared by simply pressing "Select" on the Sky remote when its in TV mode.. Thats it.. Not button combination.. Now special codes.. By simply pressing the 'Select' button on a Sky remote you get the service menu and its nasty.. There are 253 options and some look VERY frightening.
I don't know if this is repeated on other Sanyo models but its vary scary.. I wonder how many people are going to stumble upon this by accidently and change something, rendering their TV useless!
Has anyone else found this?
