Philips 20" crt, no remote, how to tune?

hi, just bought a Phil;ips 20" tv second hand. Now the remote had been lost and a replacement mini remote used instead but this only changed channel and volume.

now my prob. is how do i tune the tv.

cant remember the exact model but ill write that down 2nite and post tomoroow.

i had a similar prob. b4 (well my friend did) and paul-av-tech sorted me out.

The tv is black and has a scart and an rf connection at the back. The scart is labeled Euro Connect. This may give an idea of the age of the Tv.

On the front u have the on/off button, a + and - for the channel and a menu button. The menu button cycles thru the color, brightness, contrast, vol. etc..... but critically does not go into tuning mode.

paul-av-tech remembered a button press for the other problem i had which solved everything! Maybe someone could remember some similar trick for Philips Tvs?!

Re: Philips 20" crt, no remote, how to tune?

The model no will be needed but I can tell you you will require a remote to enter the Installation menu...I doubt a one-for-all type will do as it won't have the installation buttons on it which have icons which look like a "Diamond" and "half-Diamond" on them...these two buttons are pressed together and that brings up the installation menu and allows you to search for and store the channels.
This system of tuning was used on most of the Philips models of that vintage so even if you know of a friend neighbour or relative who has a Philips TV you could ask to try their remote...other than that just Google the TV model no such as "Philips 25PT5324 Remote Control" (obviously replace that model no with yours) and that should find some web suppliers of replacement remotes.

The user manual which you can download from http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/d...nk_UserManuals shows you the method of tuning on page 2 using the two keys I outlined earlier...you will need a remote it cannot be done from the set.
