Saw a reference a while ago that said 3x the screen size, sounds pretty good advice to me.

I Have the TOSH 42WH18B and its in my bedroom. Im about 10 foot away from it and its GREAT. I also have my centre speaker on top of the set. The tv is about 2 inches wide for a speaker here.

6-7 feet would be ok for me. I have the Pioneer speaker SCR 50. It was easy to get up the stairs as its so light!! Just have to be careful of the screen. Let us know how you get on.

cheers,
shaun

It's a Toshiba 40WH08B. I've got it sitting on it's stand (although I know some people don't like the stand as it lifts the height of the TV) and my centre speaker (Yamaha) sits perfectly in the stand.
