Hello,

I have component video input on my Toshiba 36ZP18Q and will also have the corresponding outputs on my Yelo DVD player (when it arrives).

Are the cables to connect component video specially designed for that purpose? Does one go out and shop for "component video cables"?

Am I right in thinking that component video plus optical digital audio is the best I could achieve between my DVD and TV?

Yes, you can buy dedicated Component Video Cables. These are made up of three independent 75ohm Coaxial Video Cables, like the type you would see used in single form for Composite Video. If you can't find any Component Video badged cables (not many High Street shops do them), you could just buy 3 Composite Video Cables and plug them into the appropriate sockets on DVD player and TV. It is worth buying good quality ones though.

Yes but the Component Video benefits over RGb depend upon how well the TV or DVD player handles each type of signal. The tosh Component input is very good but I can't comment on the Yelo DVD player. You can always try both Component and RGB Scart and see for yourself. You'll probably find the main benefit of using Component with your setup is that it frees up the Tv's single RGB Scart socket so it can be used by another source.

The cables listed at http://www.hificables.co.uk/acatalog...cables_36.html would seem to be what you were talking about (3 identical, individual cables with RCAs at each end) - right?
