Philips or JVC widescreen crt?

Hi everyone I'm looking to buy a widescreen crt before they become extinct.

I'm looking at the following models:

Philips 28PW6451
JVC AV28T5B

If anyone has got either one of the above models your feedback would be very helpfull.

I was going to buy a LCD but I'm still not sure about the quality, I'll only be watching standard def so I thought it's best just to get a crt for now.

Hope someone out there can help with any info.

Thanks to all.

Re: Philips or JVC widescreen crt?

I have a 28" JVC widescreen in the bedroom. Its bloody brilliant and to be honest has better PQ than my relatively new Samsung slimfit. Highly recommended.

That being said when I eventually get an LCD it will likely be a Phillips with Ambilight.

Re: Philips or JVC widescreen crt?

Thanks for your reply, have you got the same model as the one I've listed above? I've been reading there's some problems with it so I'm thinking of buying the philips, just waiting for some feedback.

Re: Philips or JVC widescreen crt?

I would go for the JVC set if it has the DIST upscaling technology then the picture will be very good.

Only the JVC HV- models have DIST, i.e. HV-28P25, HV-28P37, HV-28D40.

However, the cheaper AV- models I have seen have looked pretty good too!

Re: Philips or JVC widescreen crt?

ahh okay ive got the 32HV25 the first generation and I still havent seen anything better so far on the market. For sure its got great scaling. But they are bettering the LCD's to a point where they are acceptable. I just got a sharp LCD Aquos serious and everything is great on that set.

Re: Philips or JVC widescreen crt?

just to add the old pixel plus sets of phillips had serious problems with shimmering around people, not a big fan of the phillips.

Re: Philips or JVC widescreen crt?

Thanks for the info guys. These days you can only buy cheap widescreen crt's from stores, the philips and jvc are in the same price bracket + I think it's to soon to buy a LCD just yet.

There's nothing special about the above tv's I've listed, they're just standard basic models.

Does anyone know where I can get hold of the JVC in black?

Thanks again.

Re: Philips or JVC widescreen crt?

Philips has:
Crystal Clear improves picture depth
Combining picture enhancements like Contrast Plus and colour improvement, Crystal Clear improves picture depth.

my Philips TV will be here any minute now.

Re: Philips or JVC widescreen crt?

I have both a jvc t25 (standard level) and a p37(DIST screen). The p37 is a little better for well encoded dvd, but for general tv watching, the t25 is excellent, very smooth picture, and due to no post processing, no artifacts, arguably a nicer picture than the more expensive p37.

I'm sure you'd be VERY happy with the t5
