Question Is this worth repairing?

I have a Sony KV-28W2U widescreen TV and Stand, that has just gone on the blink.
Anyway, I'm upgrading to an LCD, but my question is:
- is there any point in repairing or should I throw it away?
- what is it worth if fixed (is it ebayable?)

Thanks.

Report back with the correct model no (I suspect you have left out a letter after the "W") and the symptoms of the fault.
If the red led is blinking the no of flashes as well?

I didn't quite make it "tonight" but have checked at last!
As suspected, I missed a W - th model number is: KV-28WS2U and the red light blinks - 2 flashes in about a second and then a pause of about a second, then the 2 flashes followed by the pause, etc. etc..
Any thoughts would be appreciated - I even have a skip outside my house that it can go into today!
Thansk!

Try the following procedure...it may just resurrect it.

With the set switched on and the led blinking using the remote control press in the following order the buttons "i" (OSD), "5", "Vol+" & "TV" (Blank TV square icon)...the set will switch on with "TT--" appearing in the top rhs of the screen.
Enter the numbers 0,8 and the set should switch off...now try and switch on again...if the set works you have just reset the error buffer in the eeprom which was corrupted due to internal flashover of the crt or a dry joint somewhere...it may happen again at sometime in the future.

Re: Is this worth repairing?

umm... I can't find the "i" button
would it be pushing down on the joystick style button that selects the colours?

- the remote is an RM-862

Maybe time for specsavers - my 6.5 years old has spotted it - it's th "i+" button, right?

Re: Is this worth repairing?

Glad to hear it.
It's a common fault on this BE3D chassis but as I said it may happen again at some point due to a possible intermittent internal flashover within the crt
