Haven't heard anything about 'picture frame' tvs. The only known new model is the FQ80 - similar to FQ75, but with more features. It looks identical to the FQ75.

Apart from that there's a new RP tv, can't remember model no. ?Both are due to be released in September.

Might of known it was you, Squirrel God, replying at this ungodly hour.

Yeah, I can only think it would be the plasmas, but aren't they out now anyway?

Sarge was comparing them to Toshiba picture frames, which are CRT's, so he's obviously got the wrong end of the stick.

With all due respect, I think the guy at Miller Bros is talking rubbish. Anyone else care to confirm this.

Don't count on any firm answers from them. Fellow members on here seem to know more about up-comming models from Sony than Sony Customer Care.

They really are hopeless. They told me a Sony amp STR DE585 wasn't available until August (it was scheduled for June initially), so I placed an order with one retailer, expecting to wait.

I later found out another retailer had had stock since 24th June. I therefore cancelled my original order and bought from the company who had the stock.

Anyway, let us know what they say.

I just passed by the Sony Shop and they had a Sony RP TV in the window that looked very picture frame-ish...

OK phoned Sony - just said fx66 is new, asked if any new tv's coming out and they said no - which we know is balls as the fq80 is coming out.

Phoned Miller Brothers back - yes definately crt picture frame and ls70 - replacement to ls60!

Popped into local sony store - not heard of anything but they only go by the catalogue as they admit sony are bit rubbish at telling them anything. He suggested cheking sony japan/us sites.

Had a look and they do have what seems to be a picture frame crt tv - very slim looking - this is on both the us and jap site and have been available for a while so we might be next?

Does it look "picture frame (ish)" to you?

one of the models was KV-32HV600 not sure if this link will work but follow sony.com to find it.

Very interesting

Although, bearing in mind, that FX66 looks the same as the FX65 and ditto for the FQ80/FQ75, is it likely that new ls70 is going to look much different to the ls60? I wonder.

Most US, Canadian, and Jap sets are vastly different in appearence to european models by any manufacturer. Same with cars to a large extent. I personally doubt we will be getting anything like that set included in your link in the near future.

I wonder why Miller Bros would know about a 'picture frame tv' - all Sony retailers are issued with the same trade catalogue. I still think they've got their wires crossed somehow. The ls35 has just replaced the ls60.

Thanks for getting back to us.

from the pictures it looks like the"picture frame" is in the middle of the main frame. a derivative of sonys "floating picture" look.

Simon

didn't mean to imply ls70 was going to picture frame - just that its coming out - will drc-mf on it apparantly. I though the ls35 was the 50hz version of the ls60?

Anyways - I hope that TV does come out - looks quite nice.

question is do I wait or just buy a ls60 from techtronics at £790?!

I've never heard of the LS70. But I did read about an LS65 some time ago which will be the same as the LS60 but will feature Advanced Digital Plus. So maybe the LS70 will add further and include DRC. That's usually the way it works with the Sony CRT range.

I wouldn't hold your breath on US/Jap models. They work differently out there and we rarely get the same models over here. Best bet is to check out Sony's european web site www.sonyeurope.com
