£600 max for new CRT

Hi all, was correctly advised to start a new post about my claim so here goes - short and sweet this time

I reckon I have approx £540 via my insurance company to get the best CRT out there, (the electrical company is overpriced so out to search the best deals myself) I could stretch this to £600 at my own expense. Needs to be good as I'm already shelling out £75 excess!!

Best offer I've had at the mo is the JVC AV32E50
I am tempted by the JVC HV32D40BK too though

Must be min 32", Dolby (virtual), come with stand, and 100hz if its better than its 50hz sister!!

Hmm, I see little point in buying a normal SD Tv today, you could jump onto the Samsung Lottery (as they are calling it here LOL) and buy a Samsung Slimfit 409 or 419 TV, both will give you change out of £500, just do lot of reading in all threads to do with them and hope later batches have issues solved.

yeah, read lots about them. Lovely looking IMO. Was checking one out last week in Comet. But like you said, its a lottery with these slim bad boys and the reviews on PQ aren't up to much kop either. I'm not a fan of LCD but I may have to put a few more hours in to see what I could get with the same money.

Why not look around for a used B&O Beovision 3 or maybe a 28"/32" Avant

There are some good deals on second hand sets if you look around, and you will definately not get a better set IMO.

Well, I'm stumped. Supposed to be daddy daycare this week with my son and all i'm doing is reading this fab site!!

Considering the pros and cons with CRT V LCD after many hours now of trying to get a decent deal from the insurance company I have finally got a shortlist of 2:

JVC HV32D40BK (CRT) £600 Empire Direct
OR
Tosh 32WLT66 (LCD) £760 Empire

Which one should I go for??????

My Ins offer is only for £465 so I'd fork out the difference in upgrade fee.

I think I may have to go with Empire as my Ins Comp deal with Empire Commercial (who told me they have heard of E D but are not part of them?? Sounds too coincidental for me, same font. location etc

I would not buy a TV without seeing it in action; certainly not an LCD.

yeah, totally agree. Did see the Tosh yesterday and today saw the Philips 32PF7521. Very good , crisp piccie, won the wife over too. So Me thinks this thread/post? will be closed now as i'm converted to LCD...next post: thread?? £800 max for new LCD!!
