sony kv-28ws2u on the way out?

Hi,

My old, but trusty Sony is playing up. Before I put it into my local repair shop to see what the damage to my wallet will be, does anyone know what my problem is:
When I switch on I get sound immediately, but no picture, just a black screen.
I can change channel, but still no picture. After a minute or two ( seems like an hour ) the picture appears, but will go off again just as quick as it came on. This happens a couple more times before everything settles down and then the tv works perfectly well.
If I were to switch off and try say, half an hour later- same thing.

Hope someone can tell me how sick my tv is.

Cheers,

John

It sounds like it could be a "Lazy" crt...in which case it's terminal I'm afraid...on the other hand it could be a faulty component in the crt drive circuitry.

Re: sony kv-28ws2u on the way out?

Had my local guy out- i was at work, but told the wife it was fixed, but repair might only last for a week, month or who knows. Basically, it is pretty much terminal, set is just old and needs replacing.

£20 spent, but at least tv turns on straight away for the time being. Guess I'll just have to do some homework befrore entering the HD revolution....

Thanks for looking,

John
