Tosh ZP is very dark. Normal or problem?

I've noticed that my 32zp46 is very dark.

At a brightness setting lower than than 80+ dark areas of the picture are very obtrusive. Detail is lost on dark suits/night scenes, shadows jump out of the screen, dark hair looks like it's had tar combed through it. It isn't untill in the 90's that blacks start to change from a pitch black to shades of grey. Unfortunately, in order to get the dark areas to look more natural the rest of the picture is affected by the high setting.

Maybe i'm just not used to such high black levels, but these are really BLACK.

Is this normal?

Has anyone experienced something similar with their Tosh ZP, or any other crt?

Is it a known fault?

Try my settings which are to my taste:
Contrast 73
Brightness 87
Colour 33
Tint 0
Sharpness -50
Scan Mode NATURAL
DNR AUTO
Black Stretch ON
Colour Temp COOL

I don't know how much one tube will vary to another, but hope this helps.
