I've had this set about 6 years and it's broken down once, a capacitor melted and was repaired and has been fine since till a couple of days ago, all the black sections turned blue gradually after the set had been on for about 15 minutes. We decided to ignore it as it was just inconvenient not unwatchable, but then the screen turned even bluer and faint sloping parallel white lines appeared in it. A couple of days later it repeated this and then shut down and restarted itself with a perfect picture for a couple of hours with no more problem. Next day it went through the same again, anyone any ideas if it's worth getting it looked at or is it terminal?

Those are classic symptoms of a failing crt.

JayCee - we should be fair to the other few manufacturers of CRT's.

I found a number for a repairman who had looked at it before and he came out and confirmed it. He swapped the transistors on the tube driver just to confirm it wasn't one of them and it did improve things a bit but the tint was still there and getting gradually stronger. He had a cuppa while we watched a bit of Fred Dibnah on UK history to see what was what and when I asked what I owed him he only wanted £5 to cover his petrol The wife and I went out today and bought another 28", a Daewoo DUB-2850GB with built in DVB for £229 from Curry's and we are impressed with the picture quality now it's all set up. The digital receiver uses the same menus as my Aldi hard drive digibox so I don't need to learn anything new there
