advice - panny or sony ??

Hoping to get an exchange on my vision 42" plasma on account of it doesn't do progressive (even though when I asked I was told it did) ...

suitably priced (i'll have to dig up 750-1000) replacements are the :

panasonic TH42PW4B or the sony PFM42B1

any advice on the pro's and con's of either screen ??

TIA

Jon

Choosing plasmas

Hi Jon

Take a look at these threads on demoing plasmas and where to buy the Panasonic.

Panny seems to be the screen of choice at the moment - I just got one and am very pleased with it.

Regards,
Nick

Pan Vs Sony?

Sony don't make plasma glass, it is made by Fujitsu. It has high resolution at 1024 x 1024 BUT it is a bit odd as the picture is a pseudo interlaced picture (really 1024 X 512). The psuedo interacing can be seen as flicker on some images. Also smaller pictures mean a lower brightness. It is really designed as a data display.

Panasonic make their own glass and they are true progressive scan via the RGB or Component inputs. Resolution is lower but brightness and contrast are much better.

Hope this helps.
