Angry Sony KV-36HQ100 - Lots of Problems

Hi everyone, got my Sony KV-36HQ100 in March and even though the picture quality is the best I've ever seen I'm at the end of my tether with it and on the verge of returning it. Having lots of problems whether 100Hz mode is set to Digital Plus or Advanced Digital. Problems are:

Problem 1:
When watching Sky connected to AV1 input quite often the video input icon appears on the screen (top left) for no apparent reason and remains there indefinitely.

Problem 2:
Same thing happens with channel icon on TV channels from aerial RF input, but with this the screen flickers first. It makes no difference whether the aerial lead is connected through Sky digibox (default) or connected directly to the TV.

Problem 3:
Halo effect around people, moving objects or bright objects.

Problem 4:
Distortion is often visible on screen with green flashes on parts of the screen, whether on Sky connected to AV1 or on TV channels via aerial lead.

Problem 5:
Often when a TV channel via aerial lead is selected there is no channel displayed, just a black screen. If you change to the other channels it is the same. The channels return after an indefinite time, sometimes seconds, sometimes many minutes. Sometimes they flicker on briefly and go black again.

Problem 6:
Most of the time when the TV is turned on the display does not auto-change to widescreen for a widescreen program/channel even though the settings are correct for auto format and 4:3 format correction. The channel has to be changed multiple times before the auto format works.

Sky box: Panasonic TU-DSB50
Scart leads: QED Sqart 2110

Anybody have any problems like these? Any avice other than return the TV immediately?

Thank you in advance,
Mel

Oh dear, sounds like you got a bad one there.

My advice would be to return it. It would be a shame if you could not get a replacement model, as I was originally looking for one of these Sonys and had to settle for a Panasonic PL32 instead, but the Sony is a beauty. Best designed TV I've ever seen.

But I suppose if it doesn't work then its not much use.

Unhappy

Just spoke to the manager of the Sony Centre here in Cork and he is going to arrange for the TV to be collected and for a full refund. Pity about the problems as I have never seen a better TV display, when it worked, and now I'm going to have to fry my brain trying to figure out what to buy as a replacement and how much to spend.

Must give it a fond farewell by watching Bubba Ho-Tep on Saturday night before I get the troops around on Sunday to help me box it up.

about the only thing in your list that mine does is the slight halo effect. Everything else sounds like a fault
