Sony KV30HS420 CRT lifespan question

Does anybody know what the average or expected lifespan is for a CRT television? I'm having 2nd thoughts about the purchase I made last week of the Sony listed above. It was a floor model that had been on display since last May....used daily when the store opened and left on until it closed. It was a pretty good price, but nonetheless if it has only a year or two life in it, I might return it.
This seems like the place to find out!!!

Thanks,
Josef

It really depends on the price if the deal is worth it. CRT TV's are quite durable in my experience, I know people that are using 30 year old wood finish sets, go figure! Your set probably has been on for ~3000 hours. I have a Sony 32in downstairs that must have been used for 4 hours every day for the last 5 years and it still works fine (should have a running time of 7000+ hours). Problem is, you don't know how the shop's staff handled it or where they got it from. It's not a European model though so I don't think anyone on here can comment on this specific set.

Thanks Fae,
I listed the set model just for additional info. I guess I was asking about CRTs in general realizing that their lifespan probably varies by make, but Sony is a good name, so I would think that it might last longer than others. I figure that is was on for about 4,000 hours. Surely TV repairpeople or even Sony must know what the life expectancy might be for a CRT.
The store probably has a hundred TVs on display - all on continuously. No doubt they moved it around periodically...probably not very gently. The on/off button is less than completely functional from so much use!

Hah, I know someone who's using an Xbox 360 on his wood finish set... unbelievable! Just goes to show that people aren't very demanding of their A/V experience overall I guess...

Anyway, back on topic, if they gave you a very good price and a nice warranty it may be worth it. Ex-demo displays are something of a lottery I think, you might get a dud or you might get a great deal. It all comes down to your gut feeling though, if you aren't sure of your purchase and worry every time you turn it on you may never fully enjoy having it even at that price.

I've known some to fail after 18 months and some to last 15 yrs...it's all down to luck at the end of the day.

I guess I was hoping for something a little more definitive than 'luck', but I know what you mean.....thanks...
