Problem with samsung slimfit?

Hi purchased one of these and was really happy with it
However i have just set up standard tv on it and noticed that 2 lines make there way progressively up the screen. Like a wave in water
there is also a buzzing noise from the back
Any idea what this and should i return it?
Its very heavy and was a real pain to get here
thanks
Kris

Look at the other posts matey the buzzing noise is probably the psu as other members have had this problem and some have cleared up some haven't.
you say the geometry is fine but you're problem with the wavy lines sounds like geometry to me.
I also have one of these tv's on order thro where i work so will get it a bit cheaper and am thinking about getting the new samsung hd dvd player aswell but will wait till have tv and see how it is.

The effect he's describing sounds more like... ah... what to call it? A scan line? Do you just get this problem with normal television broadcasts? It may just be interference on your reception, maybe you can test this with another television?

As for the buzzing, I think every television buzzes to some extent. If it's bothering you when you're at normal viewing distance while watching it there may be something wrong. You can always take it up with your sales person!

yes it is only with normal television watching
Only channel 4 with 2 lines moving progressively up the page
Ill move the tv into another room and test it with a better signal

Description sounds like mains hum or interference between analogue signals. Cheap signal boosters or poorly installed community aerial systems are often the blame for the latter, poor earths often the cause of the former.

Does it go away with SCART fed sources?

I installed mine yesterday, WS-32Z419D. I was getting a 5mm band across the screen about 50mm from top. It didn't move, and just looked like a blurred section. Gave the scart and coax a wiggle and it disappeared.

So far very pleased, but yet to try component and HDMI.

Went into Currys yesterday, they had just put it on the floor. Was going for a cheap Daewoo DUB2850 and ended up walking out with this.

I hope this is one impulse buy I won't be disappointed with!

Re: Problem with samsung slimfit?

Hey there!

Yesterday I bought a SlimFit 32" WS-32Z419D (WS32Z419D WS2Z419D8XXEU Type No. 0Z32ZZ41). £500 from Currys. Looking closely I could see a horizontal line flashing on and off about every second. The flashing line is about about 5mm / 5pixels thick, it takes about 3 minutes for it to propagate from the top of the screen to the bottom, it is then off the screen for 1 minute, then it reappears at the top again. It can be difficult to spot as it is quite faint. Difficult to see it when watching dark images (You won't ever see it if watching a black screen), or fast motion sequences. The best way to see it is to play a DVD and pause it at a reasonably light point (If possible, when most of the screen is white) then wait a few minutes.

I've noticed the line using DVD Scart input, and on all Terrestrial Television (Standard Definition) channels. I haven't used any of the other inputs.

Once you see it, it can be quite distracting. Any one had any similar problem or know how to fix it? I really love the TV, but think this model might have a design floor. I have sent an email to Samsung and see what they say.

Ben

Re: Problem with samsung slimfit?

Think I forgot to mention I exchanged the TV today with an identical one. It also has the same problem. That is why I believe this is a design flloor.

Don't drop your telly on the design floor, and then try to claim on the warranty, whatever you do!

Re: Problem with samsung slimfit?

Got a refund in the end. The line did fade to a point where I could hardly see it, but it was still there if you looked hard enough. It was the bendy sides of the picture, the image echo (that seems to stagger off to the right), and the thought that the problem line may come back to haunt after 12months - that made me decide it was time to take it back.
