Toshiba 36zp38 problems

my Toshiba 36zp38 is just 2 years old and has just started playing up the last couple of weeks

1)when i switch on the picture is just a load of horizontal lines until halfhour later pic appears

2) Picture continues to flicker & twitch about and sometimes shakes

3) the colour is awfull,as if one of the colours is missing all the peoples faces are a pale blue colour

Have spoken to Toshiba and there is no Toshiba in my area, but have agreed to pay for parts once an engineer diagnoses the problem

Juts wondered if people had a similar problem, have done a few searches and it appears there is a few problems with this model

Thanks

have a look at this thread :

Toshiba 36ZP38B - Blur

and follow the link to another where the problem is discussed further.

You'll find you have a faulty scan convertor module that needs replacing - good luck and i am certain the threads will answer all your questions.

Question

thanks for that, thought it might be the scan converter but not sure what this colour loss is?

Toshiba have said they will pay for the part(s) i just hope the labour is going to cost a bomb while they diagnose

It's another one of the symptoms of a duff scan converter module.

Based on what you have said and I presume you have read the various threads, it does not sound like the tube has gone. Get a second opinion.

Toshiba customer services are superb and will send the replacement part to an engineer of your choosing free of charge - I expect that labour should be around £50-£60 as the actual time involved to fix it is minimal at around 30-45 mins.

Good luck. Any more specific info should be directed to Jay Cee (see above post) as he is THE MAN for this type of query! He helped me enormously.

This could be one symptom of a failing tube.
