We usually fit a DFS module from our stock and arrange to replace directly from Toshiba. The module is of course free of charge.

If you bring the set to us and collect it, our labour charge will be £35.00. Can be done while you wait by appointment.
Wow small world - please tell me where you are as I live in Steeton - also don't suppose you do site visits?

Cheers

Question Re: Toshiba 36zp38 problem!!

I've tried to find someone in my area who can do this in-home but I've not been successful.

It's not going to be possible for me to take it anywhere myself due to personal circumstances, and the only one in my area that will collect & deliver wants to charge over £60 just for that. They will also have the TV for a week as they have only certain weekly times they can collect/deliver.

I wondered if anyone might know of someone who could do this repair in-home in my area?

I've checked on yell.com

I am based in Goole / Howden area, East Yorkshire.

Thanks,
Darren

Re: Toshiba 36zp38 problem!!

Hi

have you phoned the toshiba support number ? 01276 694000

they will be able to give you details of people in the area that should be able to help. once they have seen the set and diagnosed the problem they will be able to get the part free of charge from toshiba. then they will fit it and should charge you the call out fee and about and hour to fit.

you could always get a local man with van to pick it up and drop it off with the repair company you have contacted. that should be cheaper than having them pick it up

good luck

Question Re: Toshiba 36zp38 problem!!

Yes, spoken to Toshiba but there's not many people in my area that seem to do repairs. Toshiba only had one, which is the one that wants to charge £60 for collection and might not be able to get the set back to me for 7 days.

Man with a van is an idea, but not sure about it. The 36" is quite a big unit and I wouldn't be able to help carrying it etc at all.

Not sure what to do.

Re: Toshiba 36zp38 problem!!

Here is a pic (sorry about the quality) of the DFS module. The pins are just over 2mm apart. Might give people more of an idea about what is involved in replacing it. Trying to find someone in my area to fit the board in my home, so far been quoted £120+vat!! seems a bit over the top to me. Wish I had a grumpyoldtroll in my area

Re: Toshiba 36zp38 problem!!

Hi folks, its thankyou time, Due to this thread I contacted Grumpy Old Troll ( Gareth ) who told me to contact Toshiba and speak to Sally who could not have been more helpful and sent the part free of charge. Gareth said the part would come Monday but had one in stock and would fit Friday if that suited me better. I took the set to him Today and he fixed it in a record time of 15 minutes while I waited. This is service you do not find too often these days and if you have a problem with your tv and are near Bradford I would recommend him 100%. Once again thanx for everyone concerned including the forum, you dont half miss the telly when its not working, I nearly had to have conversations with the wife!

Does the problem as described with this 32zp38 on ebay sound like the DFS module problem? http://contact.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISA...lerQuestion_VI

Quite likely.

Is it a chance worth taking?

Question Re: Toshiba 36zp38 problem!!

Hi everyone I hope someone can help me. I have a Toshiba 36ZP38 and a few weeks ago I started to see the same problems that a lot of other people on this forum have encountered. The picture would start to flicker and then freeze eventhough the audio was fine. After a while the picture sorted itself out too. This would happen intermittently.
I followed the advice on this forum and contacted Sally who kindly sent out a DFS module. I arranged for a Toshiba recommended repair man to come round and change the module but he said that since the picture from the DVD player (which was connected to the TV through a Component connection) was fine the problem wasn't with the TV but with my Sky box (connected to the TV through a Scart connection). He left without fitting the new DFS module. So......I had a Sky engineer round to look at the Sky box but he said that there was nothing wrong with the Sky box and that my TV was at fault .
Since then the problem seems to have gotten worse. Now I get a blank, black screen with audio when I try to watch TV (Sky box through Scart connection) however the audio/video from my DVD player (Componet connection) is still fine. Also, when I connect the DVD player through one of the 3 Scart sockets on the back of the TV instead of the Component connection I get the same problem as the TV picture - blank, black screen with audio!!
I am really confused now. Any help would be greatly appreciated .

Thanks in advance,
Bash Zaman

Bash, putting aside the scart input problems...do you see the symptoms on progs 1-5 from the TVs internal tuner?...if you do you need to get the module fitted.

Sorry, I thought everyone knew what "Progs" was an abbreviation of.
Programmes 1 as in BBC1, 2 - BBC2, 3 - ITV, 4 - CHAN4, 5 - CHAN5 etc.
viewing through the TV with an aerial not via Sky.
