remote control help..

I have a philips remote control serial no RC4330/01h, does any one know if this will work my sky box !!. it has a list at the top from left to right....
vcr-dvd-sat-amp-cd-. and you can select each one it just flashes..
?? so it looks like it couls but i cant seem to get it to do anything except oprate my Tv the Tv is a philips 28pw 8719....
when i got the Tv i got no books etc.. it was a managers special from comet...
