Question Sony KV28LS60 with Xbox 360 480p??

Hi all I have been pondering this for ages I have a KV28LS60 Sony Wega 28inch 100hz. Since its 625lines duplicated or mimicked to make out its 1125lines am I getting 480p or higer when using my Xbox 360 with it to watch films and or play games?

I have noticed a considerable difference in quality with my movies from the old Xbox with this new 360 so wondering if anyone who is a techy whether I am getting perhaps 480p quality or maybe even 576i.

Much appreciated!

If your not using component and its not set to 480p, then no your getting 576i, the same as the old xbox.

Its just using advanced scart so by getting 576i isnt that better than 480p?

My movies certainly do look a lot better than the old Xbox on my Xbox 360 so surely something in the hardware is doing something to display the image better.

No, as 576i is interlaced, which has to create the resolution by drawing alternate lines rather than the whole frame every second.

The reason that using an adv scart with the 360 looks better is because the video output is clearer. With the original Xbox microsoft blurred the visuals over an interlaced output to try to reduce jaggies on non anti-aliased games.

Use the component cable and switch the 360 to 480p, it's vastly superior to 480i or 576i. If you don't have component inputs on your TV, I suggest simply putting the 360 on 60Hz mode. This is 480i, but refreshes faster which noticeably reduces flicker compared to 576i. Plus games run smoother too.
