Daft aspect ratios on Panny 42

Why does the Panasonic 42" have such limited apsect ratios on component? If you get a DVD 2.35:1 it is so 'letterboxed' that it is not enjoyable to watch like that. All you can do is zoom in a little. Yet if you swith to Svideo cable you get all the aspect ratios and can find a better viewing setting. It all seems a bit daft.

What's the problem, you're watching it in the correct aspect ratio.

Blame the director for the black bars!

I can't see the problem. The Panasonic is doing it's job correctly. You wan't it to do something that most people don't want.

And 2.35:1 should look fine on a 42".

2.35:1 looks very thin. 2:44 actually looks really good. Full screen is impossible with component leads.
