Due to where I live I cannot get Sky, and no Cable companies either. When will Regular "Freeview" TV be broadcast in HDTV?

Not likely before 2012 and then I assume it will take a while to roll it out to the whole country. I'd say it will probably take off about 2015 but who really knows? It could be earlier but cant see a major rollout before 2012. Of course even when it does become available you will need to convince broadcasters that its worth the switch from MPEG2 to 4

Just on the north side of some very tall trees, I'd have to erect a large pole structure to put the dish on. My neighbours have cut down the trees to get a signal, but I'd rather leave the trees where they are, freeview is good enough for me.

Too bad, Dsat will probably be the cheapest way into HD via FTA broadcasting.

It is unlikey for HD on DTT before analogue switch off but who knows. There is still some non-Freeview capacity on DTT and that could be aquired and a mpeg4 based PAY service launched or limited HD as and when the regional closure of analogue begins in late 2008.

Perhaps IPTV via various xDSL technologies may offer HD assuming you live reasonably close to an exchange.
