Can I upgrade Panasonic PW7 to HDTV?

I have just seen a PW7 for sale on ebay and the guy says that it can be upgraded to HDTV by buying a DVI board for £120. Is this correct and is it proper HDTV or an inferior way of watching a HD broadcast?

I already own a PW7 and need another Plasma for the kitchen so do I move the PW7 to the kitchen and buy a new HD set for the lounge OR can i buy a cheaper set for the kitchen and upgrade the current lounge set?

Am I also going to have to change my DVD recorder ( DMR E55 )?

Dont worry I wont be buying the item but for interest it is here!

Hi,

Welcome to the forums

The main issue with the PW7 stopping it's ability to be a real HD Ready plasma is it's native resolution, it is only 852x480 pixels. With only 480 horizontal lines, no added board will make it a true HD Ready plasma

However, with the DVI board, it will allow it to be HD compatible, in being able to show some types of HD signals, but not all. See this post here by Hornydragon for more detailed info. Also do a search for PWD7 and PW7 and you'll find lots of other useful info, especially in the plasma forum

Cheers

Andy
