Watching 1080i Films on Snazzi !!

Whilst watching 1080i films, should i set the Snazzi to 1080 or 720 ?
My plasma is a native 768 screen.

If you say 1080i, why ??

Cheers

Paul

I think this is something you'll just have to try for yourself and see what looks best.

If you output in 720p then de-interlacing and downscaling from 1080i takes place in your Snazzio, followed by upscaling from 720p (which has 1280 pixels horizontal resolution) to 768p in your display.

If you output 1080i material in 1080i, then your display has to do the de-interlacing and scaling to 768p. I suppose in theory this might involve one stage of processing less and, particularly if your display has 1366 or so pixels horizontally, might be expected to give marginally better results.

But, in practice, it all depends on how well the de-interlacing and scaling processes are actually implemented in the Snazzio and the display.

Suggest you try both, let us know which plasma you have, and tell us what you think of the results.
