video component leads

Have a Panasonic LCD TV TX-32lxd500 and a Panasonic DVD Recorder DMR-EH50 Samsung DVD-VCR SV-DVD3E and a Sky box.
have taken Scart Lead(SL) to Tv from Sky, and SL from Sky to Samsung then SL to Panasonic and SL to TV. Have just started to play and things seem OK. Next problem is DVD Recorder says use SL for best connection TV Says video Component leads will give best picture. Any comments please.

I would say that component leads would give you the best picture.
There was certainly a massive difference between my old Samsung DVD player via scart and my x-box 360 via component on my Panasonic tx32ldx52.

Hello raypeck

You need to Outline what signal path you want to achieve - Where do you want to Record your SKY signal to? Do you need to 'Copy' any other Sources and if yes to what Recording device?

Your current configuration looks like your probably viewing Composite Video from all Sources - which is the lowest quality option

Best regards

Joe

PS This should be in Cables and Connectors not HDTV!

Do either of your DVD players/recorders have progressive playback as an option via component? If so this is the best route to connect them to your display for DVD replay. If there is no progressive option - then the difference between RGB SCART and Component connection will be minimal (certainly nothing compared to the much poorer quality of S-video or - shudder - composite)

Do either of your DVD recorders (is the Samsung a recorder?) have RGB SCART inputs? If so this needs to be fed with the TV SCART (not VCR SCART) from the Sky box for the best quality recordings.
