Sony stands - Help, where can I buy?

I am considering buying the Sony 32FX65, but hate the 'oven door' stand which is supplied with it.

I thought no problem, I could obtain the stand which belongs with the 32DX40/32DX30 models. I rang Sony spares, who couldn't help. They suggested Sony customer care (should be Sony couldn't care less). No, No, No she said. There was absolutely no way I could obtain this stand seperately.

I said what if a supplied stand was damaged on arrival at a dealer or customer? Surely you would be able to find a replacement for it. Yes there were parts available, she said, but not a whole stand.

I suggested the possibility of ordering the individual parts in that case. She said no!

The lady continued to speak to me like a child. When asked, she told me I would get the same response from Sony Sales. That's if I got to speak to them - she said I wasn't allowed.

I really like the 32FX65, but honestly couldn't live with it's stand.

I can't risk ordering this set unless I am guaranteed to be able to obtain the alternative stand.

Can anyone suggest a dealer who could help with just the stand, as I would be buying the tv via a mail order catalogue where I can get a good price (interest free) and good service - although they can't offer help with the stand.

Or could I be more persistant with Sony? I did speak with the manager of customer care, mind you, after getting no where with her colleague.

Any advice would be most welcome.

Hi Simon,

I've got a brand new stand for a KD32DX40. I use my TV on a Stands Unique AV stand so I've never even opened the box for the Sony stand.

Send me an email if you're interested: dbr10uk@yahoo.co.uk
