I am looking at buying one of the above two televisions but an looking for some advice on which to choose. I am leaning towards the PB50 as it is a bit more stylish, but can someone enlighten me as to whether the Tau tube is any better than the Qunitrix F type, or are these the same tubes ?

When were these models introduced ? I wouldn't like to buy one to find that they were to be upgraded to a better model shortly afterwards..

Do a search on here and you'll find a cornucopia of threads about these sets. There is a post which has this qn and Pana response, which is that all that's dif is the outer chassis. But what's missing is the similar problems they share. I had the 36pg50 - well three actually.

Panasonic TX32PG50C no longer in production, TX32PB50C much better, but why not wait a few weeks for the new Pixel Plus Philips 32PW9617, should be worth a look.

Deansimm, your local Philips dealer should have his new product information sheet by now, most won't mind letting you see it if you show an interest. Haven't seen any pictures on the net as yet, but if you know what a Philips 6515c looks like, it is very similar, ie. it doesn't have the central recessed flange styling of 9525 0r 9616, it's more plain.

johnski, I'm not sure the UK model will have two tuners, I believe it will have split screen text and picture only, as 32PW9616c.

the 36 is RRP as £2345 (.de site) , this will obviously be cheaper online. And will no doubt have a hole new bunch of threads - assuming it aint as good as hyped!?
I was expecting it to be picture frame styled as one site online suggested. The pixel plus renderering is interesting indeed with claims of enhancing any input.
I've been keen on the rather expensive Loewe 40 but I'm going to see just what this cheaper trickster is capable of. Hopefully it won't be an X rated digital nasty.
Well done on spotting the tv on the .de site gringottsdirect. That blonde model on the tv page is worth the trip! Interseting how the tech specs list 4 euro av connection ports, but I suppose one will be the s-video parked at the front no doubt.

I bought me 36pg50 off 'eduk' and they were very good and fair at the THREE returns of sets - agreed that pana can be total d*cks and took my side. Just thought some one may like to know what kind of outfit they are.
