Basically the front of the tv where the speakers are - there's a whole punched through it

Is it possible to get that kind of thing repaired? If so, how much?

Please help

If it's accidental damage (which you have admitted it was) then the guarantee normally doesn't cover that...however your home contents insurance (if you have taken it out) may...check out your policy for what's covered.
I don't know (as you haven't stated) what the make/model is but spare cosmetic parts are usually available (depending on make/model).

Yup it was my fault - it was too heavy and it slipped from my fingers even tho I was lifting it with a friend.

It's a JVC AV32H5SK. How much would a replacement case cost? Thanks so much!

The model is not listed in the spares database of the parts supplier I use (probably because it's so new) but there is a JVC employee who hangs around this forum who may jump in if he sees your post.

speakers can sound better with the grilles off - if it works OK (and there's no kids around to poke fingers into it) you could look on this as an upgrade

Hope you get it sorted, anyway...

Congrats on your honesty.

I think most people would say it was delivered damaged.

(Not Forum members, of course. )

Hope you get it sorted.

I work in the service industry repairing brown goods.
This seems to be normal practice for the manufacturers...it's not the first time I've been quoted a price for e.g. a laser assembly for a CD player which costs more than what the player sells at.

I suggest you claim on your contents policy if you are covered for accidental damage.

that's entirely upto you, morals etc etc. Yur stuck with either a silly repair bill for a mistake,a claim on insurance if you have it or a "white" lie...............Lets face it,JVC won't go out of pocket if you claim the TV arrived bust-it will go back,be remanufactured and packed on it's way.

I wouldn't advise it...the guilt will knaw away at you...there is a strong chance you'll get caught out...it's not worth the hassle...do the right thing.

that's what i was thinking DRGL - it'll cost JVC much less than £200 to get it fixed.

what if they don't believe me? can they sue me for a false claim?

Your claim (if you were making one) would not be against JVC but the retailer you bought it from.

I'm not saying that i would do it but i would think the TV would go back to JVC damaged in transit, however it's more likely the poor sod who delivered it would get the claim,or the carrier.........

How bad is the damage? Could you not, say, just attach a bit of a "normal" Speaker Grill (like you get with hi-fi speakers) to cover the hole? Call me tight, but if it works despite the damage I'd probably tried to bodge something to cover the hole but it's your call of course...

Where did you get the quote from?
Is that just for the cabinet?...or does that include transposing all the innards to the new cabinet?

It's not even a very big hole. I've no idea how I'd go about fixing it tho, even a botched job. I have toyed with the idea of just leaving it the way it is since the tv is working fine. I'd still have the problem of getting the tv onto the stand tho

The quote was from a local tv repair place - they're an official jvc repair place. They quoted £120 (as a guess) for the "beznet assembly" and £77 labour.
