Where can I get replacement Sony components

While waiting for my 2 1/2 year old Toshiba 32ZP38 to be repaired, I have had to bring my 12 year old Sony KVX2572U out of retirement.

While watching it, the screen starts to shrink vertically until it's about 4 inches high, then it goes into standby mode with the Nicam A light flashing once followed by the B light flashing 13 times, then repeats the cycle.

If I catch it right, and whack the telly on the side before it goes in to standby mode the screen corrects itself. It then may start this all again, or continue to be ok.

I had a look inside and noticed a cracked capacitor. After locating a service manual for it, I have identified it as a Film capacitor C613 on board D with a value of 0.047MF, 630V 10% tolerance and a part number 1-129-722-00.
Assuming this is what is causing the problem, where do I get a replacement? I have check RS components and Maplin, but have not found anything similar.

This is a very common fault on this chassis and is usually just caused by dry joints (hence that is why the pic goes full-size when you whack it) on the frame output IC...circuit reference IC1501 which is a 7 pin IC mounted on a U-shaped metal heatsink and may be type TDA8179
The "cracked cap" you have found is just a red herring...its design makes it looked "cracked" and has nothing to do (and is in a different part of the circuit) with the symptoms you have.
If you are experienced in soldering it is a very easy repair.

Thanks JayCee.

I had a look at that component, but it seemed fine. While I had the board out, I did notice two transistors labelled Q601 and Q801 that were attached to metal heatsinks. Both of these heatsinks were soldered to the board, and both of them had dry joints. After re-soldering these, the picture was fine.

Thanks again for all your help.
