SONY KV-32FX60U Wega Flatscreen

Good morning everyone

I have the above model which I purchased in 1998. It has been a great TV - lovely picture and DVD's look great too. We noticed a small problem with the colour last year and booked it in for "Mastercare" to take a look at it. They ticked all the boxes and said all was ok.

This is deffo not the case now - the colour is too "reddish" ie white looks pink, green looks brown etc.

You would think maybe new tube? Or dirty plugs is a possibility?
I was wondering what you gurus on here thought.....we are having it looked at on Saturday. It will cost us £50-£70 for a callout fee but it's too good a TV just to punt onto the rubbish tip.

Anyone have an idea on what the problem may be??

Hi

Could be the tube, a green or pink cask to the entire picture is one symptom of tube failure.

I have the same set as you, about a year younger. Recently I've been getting the impression that there is less detail to be seen in black areas of the picture.

Have you noticed anything simillar?

Yes - as in the above post. It has been a great TV over the years, lovely sharp picture Sky,DVD etc but the colour looks horrible on it now. Picture is OK in terms of ghost lines etc.

Maybe the time has come to put it to sleep - TV man due round today.

wud u mind posting a pic of the black levels, also can i ask does the black levels look good when ur watching a bright scene, but if watching sommat like i dunno say a film and its all dark ect black then becomes a horrable dark brown almost colour, and when first turning on the tele if u press etxt u can see faint lines running does the set about 1-2 inches space between then and slanting downwards from the top to the right...if so defo means the tube is knackard, if u dont get lines but the black levels are pooor as i sed above then yeaim afraid its on its way...

In came an old bumbling fool, opened up the TV, took all of 4 minutes and he said "yep, the tube has gone".

That cost me £45 + VAT for the privilege. It took him longer to put the tools away.

My TV is now worthless. The new tubes on these cost over £600 according to the old git so it's a pointless exercise.

What a quick way to blow £52.75
