15in Flat Screen TV picture problems!

Hi guys,

I just purchased a "Wharfedale CTV1532RF30T 15in Flat Screen TV" from argos for my daughter, having automatcally tuned the channels in, I've noticed 2 bars top/bottom of the screen, well more like downward semi-circles.

The bars are only present for channels 1-4 and not for ch5 where the picture fills out the screen nicely.

Any ideas how to remove? I have tried fine tuning to no avail.

Ta in advance.

Sorry i don't have a digital camera...

I'm just going to put up with it because the bars appear on all my TVs when I use the ariel as opposed to sky, must be something to do with the PAL broadcast.

Ideally I would like to know how to stretch/move the picture when watching PAL TV with the ariel like you can while playing console games ie. options > screen adjust...but as there is no option in TV menu I doubt it can be done

I think what you are seeing is a widescreen picture on a 4x3 TV...most programmes are broadcast this way on analogue...if you had a widescreen TV you wouldn't see them as it fits the screen.

i think its more likely 14:9 which the terrestrial signals are nromally broadcast in, half way between 16:9 and 4:3.

It will be, I just stated "Widescreen" as a catch-all term.
