Question Panasonic TX-DTX11 - DVB Timer problem ?

Hope someone can help. I bought the Panasonic TX-DTX11 in December 05 and have problems with the Timer , which has a knock on effect on my DVD recordings (but lets forget the dvd for now).

Panasonic told me that if I want to set the Timer so as the TV changes channel at a given time, to any of my chosen digital channels, I must use the DVB menu or I found that the Guide menu also lets you find the programme and press the Blue button to take me to the DVB Timer menu list.

So there it is, my programme is listed in the Timer menu - should be happy sailing right? Well it was over the Chistmas break, but for the past two weeks its been playing up. Sometimes not changing channel or sometimes just changing once, when I had put a couple different channels in.

HAS anyone had problems with Panasonic Timer programming?

The knock on effect of this, is that I want to use my DMREH50 dvd recorder. Panasonic told me to leave my DVD alone and only to use the TV's DVB Timer menu option, and rely upon the Q-link to activate the recording.

As you see above this is no longer working. The DMREH is working just fine, it will record if I set the timer on that, just means I cannot tell the TV to change channel to a different programme afterwards to make a second recording, as the Timer seems broken; so if I leave the DVD to record over night, I can only record one programme.

Problem checks - yes I've made sure the dvd is set to HDD and there is over 50 hours of space free. The 21 scart is plugged in just fine.

Examples: [1] I've tried overnight recording a few times now and failed, yet over xmas I happily recorded several films this way, by leaving the TV on standby.
[2] I've tried daytime recording, bit of Quantum Leap, sometimes it didnt work, other days I used the tv's Guide menue instead and it ended up recording 5 minutes early and thus missed 5mins of the end of the programme
[3] I tried recording 3 programmes in a day, on one channel. 10-11am, 12-1pm then 3-4pm. Yet when i got home, it had recorded the first two programmes, and yet at 5:15 it was still recording the 3pm show - odd?
[4] I've also come into the room midway during a recording, to find that it is not recording, yet when I enter the DVB Timer menu - there it is clear as day to see. I was able to cahnge channel and no warning message 'locked' came up when it should do. [in the timer menu I pressed 'ok' to enter the item then ok again to confirm it, hoping it'd jump me to the channel or start it recording, but instead I got an error message saying somthing about error in my Time setting.]

Im confused and angry that a NEW tv doesnt work properly; this is a simple function I want to use. Some people say to buy a seperate Digi-box, but I paid the extra money for this set, for a reason.

[note: I probably will buy a digi-box one day so as I can watch one digital channel and record another]

Hi

I have the new EH60 HDD recorder connected to a new Panny TXDTM1 IDTV via fully wired scart and Q-Link..

I tried using the TVs timer to set a recording, and YES it activates the DVD OK and the programmes records, but whilst it is recording the TV tuner is locked to the channel your recording, and of course the DVD is as well. So I don't bother with the TV timer. I use the DVD timer which works perfectly.

Having the digital tuner in the TV AND the DVD gives better flexibility - i.e. watch a digital channel AND record another digital channel at the same time.

Yep - this simply means: ignore the fact your Panasonic TV is faulty and go buy a Digital Box.

This is the conclusion I keep coming to.
