It's a simple poll. Just say how you watch 4:3 footage on a widescreen TV. The options are:

1. Fit horizontally and vertically (i.e. squashed characters)
2. Fit horizontally with TV vertical stretch/zoom (i.e. adjusted character height either fully or partially, but with part of the image lost off the top and bottom of the screen)
3. Image displayed centrally at 4:3 or 14:9 with black sidebars and no character distortion.

4:3 in 4:3 makes sense to me ;-)
Never been keen on squashed people or cutting parts of the picture off.
The many 'toy' ratio options are overused unnecasarily by a great many folks IMHO, always have a moan at all the 'fat' people on TV at my fiances parents house

Depends 95% of viewing is 16x9

BBC stays in 4x3 as they send black bars

Usually Smart with is a 14x9 zoom with a slight stretch at the sides to fit

Music channels Zoom

Auto Format: Passable, some distortion.

4:3 Wide black bars each side, picture too small

Subtitle zoom: Good

16:9 Picture enlarged too much, cropped edges.

14:9 Best of all

Iv'e been using the Cinema setting on my tv as most channels i watch that aren't widescreen tend to have black bars at the top and bottom or are letterbox so cinema is perfect for them. I did just leave it in widescreen mode and had fat people but as i was noticing most programs had black bars at top and bottom it made sense to put it in cinema mode and if i switch to a widescreen channel then it switches to widescreen automatically. I can't stand watching 4:3 on a widescreen tv with black bars at the side.....
