Has anybody got a Philips 28pw6720 / 32pw6720:-

What do you think of the picture quality through freeview / software / EPG?

I'm not that impressed (built in freeview), seems washed out purple/blue. The EPG is slow when interactive and painfull when looking through the schedule compared to the brilliant Humax pvr-8000t. It also gets locked on a channel and take a couple of minutes before it clears and allows you to continue scanning through channels.

I purchased a Philips 32PW6720 as a replacement for the Toshiba 32YT56 I had purchased in December (see other threads) for the same reasons already posted on this site.

I was expecting an improved picture quality as the Philips was £60 more expensive, Philips is a renowned mnufacturer of quality tubes (was), the product description used words like 'crystal clear'! Imagine my dissapointment when I realised (within the first hour of viewing and adjusting colour/contarst/brightness controls) that it was not up to scratch.

The most noticeable thing are skin tones, which are so pallid, as if there is too much green/blue in the picture and the red is very weak, as when you turn up the colour the tones just become pinker not redder.

Also the clarity of the picture just doesn't match that of the Tosh it replaced. Despite the annoying hgh pitched noise from the Tosh its picture quality was very good.

So I've taken advantage of the Comet send it back within 7 says and get full refund. Comet by the way have been excellent in their customer service throughout my hassle with the Tosh and then the Philips.

So now I'm considering whether I need to buy an LCD, but at £800 start price for something decent I think I might just claim my 10year old 21" Philips back off my son.

Does it have a colour-balance setting?

You can adjust it in service mode a bit, still not great though.
