That's what the Comet repair service told me, without the engineer even turning up. They denied it was a known fault, but I then made the point that if it wasn't a known fault how the hell did they know a part was required

I then stated I wasn't prepared to have a brand new set repaired and I wanted to replace it with another make/model. Don't know how, but I had a feeling it was a feature with the YT56 series (or a batch of these sets).
It's funny that I had exactly the same problem with a set I bought in 1998 (Tosh 32" Widescreen again). They had a mod/repair kit to fix a hum problem then, in the end they replaced the set after 6 months.
