Philips 28" with Sky+

I have recently been experiencing problems viewing sky+. I have a Philips 28pw95zs/051 Tv wich is connected to my Sky+ box via RGB Scart which in turn is connected to a Denon 500SD via Toslink.

I have the option to either listen to the Sky+ either trough the speakers in the TV or the Denon. More often than not I use the Denon but sometimes I have to use the TV.
When I use the TV to listen to Sky+ I get sound from the channel selected on the Sky box, but also get sound from the TV tuner (which in my case is BBC1 - the channel the TV is on before I select the EXT to get to Sky+). Not sure why this is happening

I noticed the problem when I was changing channels on the sky box and I could hear Anne Robinson in the background (Test the Nation last night). I thought it was coming from next door but after closer inspection it found it was coming from my telly. So I selected a wildlife progrmme on discovery where there is little to no sound and lo and behold I could hear Anne Robinson again

Does anybody have any ideas as to why this is happening?

Thanks

It could be a wiring issue, or due to some menu settings or possibly a fault. You need to narrow down the possibilities. The best way to do that is to disconnect the Denon completely and just use a direct SCART to SCART connection from the SKY box to the TV.

If you still hear the TV sound mixed with the SKY channel then look to the TV for a solution. Check if the SCART socket is both an input and a TV output. Check the menus if there's an option for this. You could always try a different SCART input to see if the problem remains.

Once the TV and SKY box are working well together then reconnect the Denon. If te problem comes back you should recheck the wiring to the Denon.

Thanks Chris - I was considering rewiring the whole lot before this problem occured only to see if there is a more efficient way of routing the cables. As you say I will start by connecting just the TV and Sky box, then integrate the rest of the equipment.

OK - Last night I rewired the whole lot and it it looks like the problem I had with the sound has been resolved. But I have hit another minor problem.... The Sky button on the sky remote used to take my TV directly to the Sky SCART, this now doesn't work for some reason.

Is there any way I can get this working again? I'm hoping it's a setting in the TV/Sky box, rather than rewiring again!!

I think that feature is called SCART control in the Sky set-up menus. If none of the menu settings have been changed on the TV and Sky box, and you have a direct SCART connection from the Sky box to the TV, then it should still work. Try connecting to the other SCART on the TV.

I think you'll also need a fully wired scart to acheive this (or at least pin 8 (I think) wired). So it maybe that the reason it's not working is that you're using a different scart here.

The function was working before I re-did the connections yesterday because of the sound fault. The SCART is the same and plugged in to the same output on the back of the telly - wierd!!
