Weird Problem with CRT Screen color distortion

I had a Toshiba 34hf85 which I just exchanged for a replacement 34hf85. I was getting discoloration in the left bottom corner of the screen. The new one also gets the discoloration. Prior to the first Toshiba I had a 31inch Mitsubishi that also got the discoloration. Funny thing is that this appeared in the same location on all 3 TV's. I moved the Mitsubishi (6weeks ago) when I got the first Toshiba and have not seen the problem on the Mitsubishi. I read up and learned about magnets and how they can cause this problem. There are no magnets anywhere near the Toshiba and my speakers are magnetically shielded. I set my center speaker (shielded) on top of the TV and the L & R speakers on the floor. I have been racking my brain to figure out what may cause this problem. Something must be causing an electrical Disturbance. Any suggestions?

Sandan,

Sometimes non-magnetic things turn out to be magnetic. Is there a radiator near the TV, or some other metal object?

Also, I've seen purity errors caused by an electricity meter on the other side of the wall behind the TV.

There's nothing much you can do if this is the case other than relocate the TV.

Thanks much for your ideas. But, I don't have radiators and the Electric meter is on the other side of the house. On the inside the corner of the TV that is having trouble is near a wall (Plenty of ventillation in the Rear). I do have 2 Brass flower vases on the floor about 2ft away (Don't know if brass is magnetic but don't think so) and we usually have 5 or 6 VHS movies laying close on the floor. On the outside there is an above ground swimming pool (24ft round) about 20 feet away. Wonder if this could be the culprit? The pumb is farther away about 40 feet. Other than that there is nothing but my yard.

What happens if you take your centre speaker off the top of the TV and move it some distance away. Even magnetically shielded speakers have some kind of magnetic field around them.
I once found that some Sony TV's are so sensitive to magnetic fields that rotating them by 90 degrees so thay faced a different direction would affect this type of sceen discolouration. The earths magnetic field can affect sensitive TV's.
