SlimFit CRT's advice

hey

I'm completely new to all of this TV talk and came across this site when looking for reviews on sets to replace my antique Panasonic that I've had for almost 10 years.
I just found out from soylentgreen's post about the recalled Samsung WS32Z308P, that there are slimline CRT's out. Are these restricted to Samsung and could anyone advise a cheap widescreen set between 21" and 28"? The reason I'm after one is because CRT's seem too big and LCD''s and Plasmas seem to need a small fortune to be spent on them before they get to good quality levels.
I was hoping to find one around the 350 mark, but maybe that isn't possible?

thanks
