Picture Problems on Toshiba 32ZP38

I have had the Toshiba 32ZP38 TV for 2 years, and up till now it has worked fine. Recently though the picture has become severely distorted with interference (making my tv look like an Andy Warhol painting). First I thought it could be the scart connections, but this isnt it (interference happens on all channels and connections), leading me to believe its an internal problem in the TV. I am not too knowledgable on such things, so does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this. Also, would I be able to fix this myself easily or would an engineer be required (and how much do you think this would cost). Please help!

I have got a similar issue with my 32zp38 too. I note that your post is a few months old so hoping that you have found a solution to your issue.

Any tips?

This is a known problem on this model and a replacement "Scan Converter module" is required.
This module costs around £100 but Toshiba being one of the better manufacturers that still value customer service are sympathetic and will often supply it FOC even if your set is out of warranty leaving you just an engineers labour/fitting charge to pay for (it is soldered to the main circuit board).
Best bet is to call out an engineer and get him to confirm the fault and then call Toshiba Customer Services on 01276 694000 and "gently" complain...saying that you have heard this is a known problem on this model and "after me paying XXX pounds you expected it to last longer than X years" bla, bla, etc.
Be nice...it costs nothing to be civil and it pays dividends in the end.
Report back or PM me if you need anymore info.
Good luck

Hi guys

I have taken a few screenshots of the problem to make sure that it is identical to what you are talking about. See - http://www.flickr.com/photos/86879440@N00/

If this is the case then can you please confirm it. Also what is the number of the replaced part. The local tv mechanic I had around did not have a service manual when he had come to take a look. He will be coming around again this week.

thanks a lot

Yes, that's the fault symptoms caused by...Part no followed by Description.

PT NO 23788500 DEF BOARD PD1009B

Make sure the engineer gives Toshiba all of the above.
