Toshiba rptv will not come out of standby

I've got a Toshiba 50WT29B rptv. It is three years old. Since yesterday it will not come out of standby. After a many "on and off" cycles (of the front panel button) it will eventually come on.
When it works the picture is excellent.
There is no mention of this fault in the manual.
Is this a common problem? Can I fix it myself or is it a specialist job? It is no longer in warranty.

Recommendations please.
