Panasonic TV won't switch on, only switches on when button is held on....

Hi,

I have an older type of Panasonic TV which is around 26" and its not widescreen or anything. This morning i tried turning it on and the light flashes, but the TV doesn't turn on unless I keep my finger held on the button and once i let go of the button, it just turns off !!!

I will be getting a new TV, but I was wondering why this has suddenly happened? Is it a minor fault that can be fixed easily? Or is just a sign that its too old and would it cost a lot to repair it?

Thanks a lot
Kev

If it's an old TV, it's unlikely that a repair will be economical, when you can go to Tesco's and buy a brand-new TV for just over £200. Lots of small TV repair shops will give you an estimate, though. A lot depends on whether spare parts for that model are still available.

The On-Off switch is faulty............not "the button"
It should be relatively easy to repair and a lot cheaper than a new Tv. Phone around a few Tv repair shops and give them the model no and ask for an estimate.
Why did it happen? Wear and tear my friend.

i managed to fix it so that it stays on. The only thing is that i can't turn it off now But that doesn't matter because i can still just switch it off with the remote in the meantime until i get a new TV which i need anyway
