Widescreen switching with R1 DVD through S-Video

Mark I've already posted on this subject of the Sony FX20s not auto-switching on region 1 (NTSC) DVD's with an s-video connection.
But unfortunately I can't seem to get any help on this matter at present. I've gone through the service menu's but have not found the suitable option yet.

I've got a Pioneer DVL919 connected to a Sony KV-28FX20 TV via S-Video. If I'm watching a region 2 DVD, the TV will automatically switch to widescreen if required, but it doesn't if I'm watching a R1 DVD.

There is a letter in the August issue of HCC saying that the same problem on the KV32FX60 can be solved with a plug-in ROM with a new version of the operating system. Anyone know if there is a similar solution for the FX20?
