JVC AV-28WFT1EK switching off

My girlfriend has a JVC AV-28WFT1EK that keeps switching itself off.

there's no real regularity to it, and it happens both when watching the standard terrestrial signal and dvds.

Once it switches itself off to standby mode, it's not possible to switch it back on with the remote. You have to turn it off on the TV and then back on again. Which returns it to standy. Then the remote works again.

Anyone experienced anything similar before? Or can anyone suggest what might be affecting it?

The remote still functions fine when the TV is on and there are no problems with either the SCARTed DVD or the VCR connected with a standard aerial cable.

All suggestions welcome.

Cheers
