Question Am I getting screwed?

Bit of a Jackanory here guys, so bear with me:

HELP! My Hitachi (piece of ****) TV gave up on me just prior to the England / Albania game and I dashed out to get a new one.

I went to a local retailer, pointed out the TV I wanted and went through the motions. Inside half an hour I was told I'd have to wait 7-14 days to take delivery of a SONY KV28DX30 DVB TV.

About a week later I called to ask for an estimate when the TV would show, I was told 21 days. A few days later I was told it was in but there were no delivery drivers available, so I offered to pick it up the following day. The following day, another call to tell me that the TV wasn't even in stock and had in fact been discontinued!

The retailer then said that he couldn't acquire this particular TV anymore and would order me the new model as a replacement - a SONY KV28DX40 and that I would have to wait a further 21 days. I'm now ten days into this period and still nothing!

I've scoured the web and can't find this particular model. Is the retailer pulling the wool over my eyes? I'm due to make the first payment on this TV in nine days and I don't even have it or have any idea of spec or what it even looks like. Also, am I entitled to any kick-back for the time I've waited and the aggravation... as essentially the retailer has failed to supply the TV I asked for inside their stated 21 days?

AM I GETTING SCREWED? <img src="frown.gif" border="0"> Or am I just an impatient customer....

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

John

Angry

You're not wrong, it is Vernon Collard of Rayleigh -- who now say that the TV will be in this coming Monday, just one day before I start paying for the thing. The manager fobbed me off with excuses about the inconvenience I've had and suggested that I write a letter to the store's managing director to voice my concerns about their 'service'.... my other half is working on this right now.

Thanks for the tip about the Sony site, prior to my original post I visited there with no joy.

Thanks for replying, and good luck with Vernon Collard!

Kind regards,

John
