Hi guys, Help me settle an argument in the office. My colleague reckons the best CRT ever was the Sony Wega. I on the other hand vote for the King of Kings - the Beovision Avant RF 32 DVD. I know it costs an arm and a leg, but you get what you pay for. The best picture in the world and not to mention ,state of the art design which still looks awesome, even after 10 years.

I'd love to hear the opinnions of other forum members.

for me its the b&o avant 50 hertz.
even better than the current one , mainly because the footie and other sport is more natural, especially on sky.
and thats just it ,with this tv ,the picture was good no matter good or bad source,cant say that about todays tvs.

another tv that was really cool was was the pioneer 28/29 crt they had 10 years ago.
chassis was designed by b&o and made by thompson,i couldnt find hardly any picture differance between it and the avant at the time.
damn thing broke down every 6-8 months guaranteed,french build quality eh!

dont have any more.
but i am seriously about getting another 32' soon.
by todays best standards the 50 hertz avant is still hard to beat.
from a sporting point ,i feel it shows a slightly better and more natural picture than the current one.
if i get one soon, it'll see me good for a year and a half when hd stuff should really kick in

what you really want is an AVANT MK2.5 (IIRC) Flat tube and VCR deck i prefer to the newer DVD avants (unless you go for pure black ) was the rarest Avant 32" tho.....(oh and have it ISF calibrated )

Got to say that I have yet to see better than my Philips 36" 9618. Superb pic of tuner and through RGB. The details and contrast of this set is the best I have seen.

I like the 100Hz (dont watch footie.....) the 100Hz chassis is better IMO

Loewe Articos is the best picture I have seen, I still have difficulty spending £££££ on plasma's or LCD's that are inferior, Hi Def excepted.

50Hz TVs I think are better for normal TV use as you don't get the plastic effect.

I really rate my TV and I haven't yet seen one I must replace mine with
