Post Anyone compaired a Dreamcast in S-video over RGB?

I have always used my consoles in RGB, as it gives the best picture.

But at present I am sharing my RGB input between my DVD and DC using a switch box.

As I want to make the connections more simple and I want to get some better quality RGB cables for the DVD player, I want to move the DC to a spare input.

However, in Composite it looks really bad...

But, as my spare input supports S-Video, I am hoping that it will be better.

Has anyone actually compaired the performance of the DC in RGB over S-Video..

What should I expect from S-Video, when comparing it to RGB or Composite...

I guess that its better than Composite, but not as good as RGB...

Any feedback would be appreciated

Thumbs up

Jon,

I had the same problem with PS2, DC, DVD and Sky Digi all wanting RGB. IMHO DVD is MOST important, so that gets the single RBG scart on my 32FX60 WEGA. I used to have the DC on RBG and that was a very good picture, but now i have got it running on S-Video, along with PS2, and they both look great.

The only DC S-Video lead I could find was in HMV (of all places )

Have fun.

Ian.

Thanks for that.. HMV.. Never expected that..

I was going to get mine from Blaze, but I will give HMV a go.

My next thing will be to get a decent SCART-SCART cable for my DVD.. Any recommendations anyone?

Managed to get one from Chipsword!.. Can't fault their service as it arrived this morning...

However, things are looking glum on the TV front..

I changed my VCR from Composite to RF.. I didn't think that the picture could get much worse.

Although I now have a free input (For my DC), my VCR looks horrible.. I have a kind of ghosting problem where bright areas bleed to the right.... And I also get dark stripes rolling across the screen.

I might have to go back to my old setup and leave the RGB switch in place.. Other than that, I could alway leave the DC SVideo connector dangling and plug it into the front of the TV when I am using it I guess....

I am starting to dislike my TV a lot!!!!
