JVC AV-28X4 sound problem

my new JVC AV-28X4 seems to have a inconsistent sound problem.

basicly it makes a faint beeping noise and generally hiss/static noise sometimes. I played with the sound settings yesterday and it has gone at the moment, but now im not happy with the sound but dont want to mess with it any more incase the noises come back!

when it was making the noise it was on all inputs, even with nothing plugged into it so it wasnt interfearance or dodgy scart cables or anything like that.

The TV is plugged in through a surge protector extension lead so I doubt its anything else in the house causing it.

I think it went away when I turned the hypersound thingy off...

anyone else had this with a JVC?

I guess its gonna mean a call to JL and either a replacement or engineer visit, but I'd rather avoid that if possible due to that meaning another day off work and hassle etc!
