Wavy image with component cables?

Hi, I'm new to these boards but I have a problem. I recently have switched over to component cables and progressive scan, when available. On some games that I play, they don't support Progressive scan so instead the picture runs in 480i and looks wavy, as if you can almost see the refreshing. Is their a way to get around this? and if that, what is the problem in the first place. Thx
