Question s-video through scart?

i have a technics dvdplayer that outputs on s-video using the usual 4 pin din connector. However, if i buy a tv that does not have a s-video din socket but does have a scart socket that takes s-video can I buy an s-video lead that has the din plug at one end and the scart at the other? I dont like the idea of having to get an s-video to scart converter as i hate too many joins on a lead.

Should not be a problem, you could even cut the din connector of your current s-vid lead and solder the scart on the cable. Scart shells can be bought for 99p from Maplin

Hi all,

I have a similar question in that I have an X-Box cable that ends in S-Video/audio connectors (and a digital audio which I connect to the amp). The Tosh S-Video input is on the front but it does have an s-video enable scart on the back which means I could keep it always connected. Is it as simple as getting a scart adaptor that you can plug the s-video din into. I have the same situation with a gamecube cable the justs uses cinch plugs and I already have a scart/cinch "adaptor" (I think it origally came with a video camera!).

Many thanks,

Ig
