Loewe Aventos 100Hz disaster - Help please

Dear all,

Bought a Loewe Aventos 100Hz 32 inch set and it is absolutely hopeless for live or recorded football - any panning or left to right movement and the background breaks up into a very pixelated image that is, to me, unwatchable! Any suggestions I got a refund on this set but don't know what to do now is 50Hz best for football? Input is from Telewest cable box through Scarts (£30 each so thye should be good) into the RGB input on TV.

Is this a problem with all 100HZ or do the ones that advertise motion correction type systems work with football?

Any suggestions gratefully recieved.

Alasdair

100htz are usually quite poor with football. My tosh is better than some i have seen.Although not as good as my old 50htz sony.If you watch a lot of footie then you should try and get some demos. Most of the problem is skys poor quality which can be amplified by a good 100htz tv.

Hi,

I think the majority of your problem is down to mpeg compression used by Telewest. It is noticeablly worse than Sky or Freeview and is made obvious by the by the quality of the Loewe set. Also make sure that you have the sharpness of the set down to 1 (or 2 at most).
I have a Loewe Mimo using Freeview and don't have any problems with footie.
Also make double check that the set is set to receive an RGB signal and that the box is outputting one.

Thanks Kwangomango,

I do have both input and output on RGB and the sharpness on 1. It does look a bit like if the sharpness scale went down to negative numbers it might be better yet but 1 is minimum.

Are you for real about telewest being much worse than Sky or Freeview there seems to be a lot of debate about that but a consensus that most 100Hz sets are not good at fast motion?

Really concerned about this as I now have my £1k budget back intact (luckily!) and am struggling to choose another set. Are B&O any better? I saw a Biovison 3 28" which looked fab but it's a 50Hz only set and £1850!!!!!!

Your set is essentially the same as mine, and mine produces a superb picture on anything, including fast moving sports. Your best bet is to pick up a cheap Freeview box from somewhere and check out Match of the Day on BBC1. That way you'll know for sure if it is Telewest or the TV.
