Need help getting DVI to work on Philips Pixel Plus TV

I'm using the 1st gen Pixel Plus 29" CRT TV. According to the Manual the RGB port on AV3 can accept 1080i input. I tried connecting the Momitsu V880 via a DVI-RGB cable to the TV but can't get any picture up on AV3. Is it because I cannot use a DVI-RGB cable? Or is it that the 1st gen Pixel Plus cannot accept DVI?

thanks in advance!
